A great weekend by all club members who attended as spectators at this years “Extreme Winching Challenge” in Noojee. Throw in a few tracks before and after to get the juices flowing to top off a another fantastic weekend.

End year celebrations where held at Sheep Yard Flats, we even had a special visitor for the kids and well the adults also 🙂 A nice challenging track on the way home for those who where interested.
Drove the difficult beach to Carpenters Rocks again, with 9 cars getting bogged all in the same place. Was a difficult trip on vehicles with Wazza blowing a clutch on the soft beach to Carpenters Rocks and needing significant effort and winching to recover him. The car ended up at a shop in Millicent for repairs for the week. Mark B also managed to snap a tie rod ball joint on his D22, which needed some bush mechanics to get him off the beach and back home. Other than that, they enjoyed a pub meal on the Sunday in Robe. Was a good trip and a good camp spot at Southend Caravan Park.
John Mc, Jeremy and Rob S went up to Tallarook one November Friday night, got the fire going, camped out. Did a few tracks on the Saturday. Rob gleefully announced the Ford had to pull out the Toyota. Had a heard of goats wander through the camp. Was a great campsite with a great view, near the Warragul Rocks. Good fun only half an hour away from home.
Another successful Simpson desert crossing for Paul with another 7 members vehicles following in August 2017. The members and partners left early on a wet and drizzly Saturday morning searching for adventure and sunshine and finding both a few days later. The 2-week trip passed thru some of Australia’s historical outback places and towns including, Lake Mungo, Broken Hill, Milparinka, Cameron corner. From Cameron Corner it was the Old Strzelecki taking us up to Innamincka and into Birdsville for a well-earned drink at the iconic pub.
The Simpson Desert Straddles SA NT and QLD borders and is the largest parallel sand dune in the world.
The enthusiastic group took the French line East to West putting our sand driving skills to the test across the Simpson Desert, beginning with Big red without complications.
1100 sand dunes later the soothing waters of Dalhousie springs was our reward.
Good fun had by all on the crossing and all agreed they could easily turn around for a return trip.
From Mt Dare up to Old Andado to meet the colourful caretaker with lots of stories to tell then its bull bars pointing south for home via the Oodnadatta track.
Wet day, very slippery. Found that a lot of tracks were impassable and several vehicles ended up with some sort of damage. John had an incident with a tyre that rolled off its rim. The group enjoyed lasagna for lunch out of the oven. Met a group of idiots trying to jack up a hilux from both ends with 2 hi-lift jacks!
Quite a few clubs around the area for Easter. Great campsite. Visitor Rob (now a member) introduced everyone to the game of Finska, which proved to be a very entertaining game. Set up the moonlight cinema. Tracks were quite long and slow. Weather was great. Good times had by all.
Several members took up the opportunity to do a trip through the iconic Victorian High Country for a week leading up to Australia Day. Others joined them for a four-day weekend taking in the Australia Day public holiday.
